With the push for standardized testing and accountability for teachers and schools, is the US losing its edge as innovators?  Below is an article on the Creativity Crisis, the pdf of my creativity notebook which discusses scoring and some images that you can use to take/give the test.

How I've used this.  I have given students each of the tests, gone over the results, and then read the article with them.  I would like to do a Socratic Seminar on this tying it to articles about standardized testing to see what they think.

I remember this guy from my childhood.  Although I never painted with him, I loved his spirit.  I love the line, "there are no mistakes, only happy accidents."  Since I live in a world of approximation, I feel like it gives me permission to go out on a limb and try new things.  Because I am a person who likes to try new things I can accept my "happy little accidents". I hope others can too.

Every time I see this video it makes me cry--in a good way.  This man touched so many of us with his gentle spirit, his ability to see the best in everyone and his strong determination to do the right thing.  If we could only accomplish a fraction of what he did, the world would be a better place.
